About STEPS

What is STEPS for Lymphoma?

add remove
STEPS for Lymphoma is a virtual fundraising challenge open to all Australians, regardless of location, age, or capacity.

We encourage you to keep track of your daily STEPS throughout March to help us collectively make our way around Australia.

You can keep track of your daily step count on your fundraising page, and all the STEPS you add will pull through to the main map, updating our progress in real-time.

Every STEP you take and dollar you raise will support Australians living with Lymphoma.

There is no minimum or maximum team numbers - 2 to as many who want to join you.

You can create a team or workplace while you register, and also through your online fundraising page. Or join an existing team and workplace!

You can take part as a:

  • Family
  • Workplace

  • School
  • And many more...

How many STEPS do I have to do?

add remove

STEPS for Lymphoma is a personal challenge, not a marathon. 10,000 STEPS a day is a suggestion; you can do more or less - it's totally up to you.

Remember, you can always change your challenge goal if you feel you have set the goal too high or low. Log in to your dashboard, scroll down, and select "My Fitness Activity" to make this change.

Registration

How much does it cost to register?

add remove
STEPS for Lymphoma is free to join.

Can I join if I am under 18?

add remove
Yes, absolutely! We love to see under 18s getting involved, and we welcome your involvement. However, we need a parent/guardian to complete the registration form on your behalf.

What's the difference between registering as a workplace and as a team?

add remove

You can register multiple teams under your workplace and have access to your workplace leaderboard to see the progress of other teams and individuals. There's nothing like a little bit of friendly competition!

Otherwise, if you and your colleagues only have one team participating, you can simply register as a team rather than a workplace.

Log your STEPS

  1. Make sure your device is connected to your STEPS for Lymphoma dashboard

How do I log my STEPS this March?

add remove

Any GPS-enabled devices such as fitness wristbands or watches (e.g., Fitbit, Garmin) can be used to track your progress seamlessly. We've established connections with popular platforms like Strava, Fitbit, and mapmyfitness, enabling automatic synchronization with your fundraising page. Each time you record an activity on these platforms, your accumulated STEPS will be added to your total.

You can easily utilize your smartphone if you're not currently linked to these devices. Simply download Strava, Fitbit, or mapmyfitness to kickstart your tracking journey.

Once you've installed the preferred fitness app and created your account, log in to your STEPS for Lymphoma profile page. Navigate to the 'My Fitness Activity' tab to connect to your chosen fitness app. Click on the app's icon to prompt you to log in and authorize access to your fitness account.

Congratulations, you're now connected!

When you use your fitness app, please remember to initiate a new activity through the app and stop it once you've finished each session. This ensures accurate recording of your STEPS on your fundraising page.

Additionally, you can manually add an activity through the 'My Fitness Activity' tab. You can find a step-by-step guide in your dashboard under 'Resources' to help you with this process.

Can I use a treadmill to get my STEPS up?

add remove

You can choose any way you want to STEP this March.

How do I collect donations?

add remove

People donate because they are asked – so don’t be afraid to share your fundraising page far and wide.

Send to friends, family, and colleagues via email, text, Whatsapp, or Messenger. Share your story and fundraising page link on your social platforms. Or print out posters to display at your workplace or school.

Tell your supporters why the cause is important and remind them that every dollar counts and goes towards supporting those impacted by lymphoma.

Many workplaces also offer dollar matching, so it’s worth asking your boss if they will consider this.

Also, don't be afraid to follow up - we all live busy lives - someone might have every intention of donating to you, but it has slipped their mind, so a simple reminder won't go astray.

Your fundraising page will accept credit card and PayPal donations. Cash donations can also be collected.

Do I need to wait until March to start fundrasing?

add remove

Definitely not! You can start fundraising as soon as you register. Don't be shy, share your fundraising page URL far and wide with everyone you know!

What should I do if I receive a cash donation?

add remove
If you have received a cash donation, you can submit the money to your fundraising page in two ways.

The quickest and easiest way is to donate to your fundraising page by using your own debit/credit card and keeping the cash for yourself. By choosing this option, you can generate a tax receipt for the donor, which will be emailed to them in real-time.

Alternatively, you can contact us, and we will send you our details so you can deposit the money into our bank account.

Are donations tax-deductible?

add remove
Yes, all donations of $2 or more are tax deductible.

What happens if I don’t reach my fundraising target?

add remove
Your fundraising target is just a guide to motivate you and your team throughout the challenge. Any fundraising you do will make a massive difference to people with lymphoma.
